FAQ
Analytics & tracking
What is gaze tracking and how is it used?
Choices tell you what a learner decided. Gaze tells you what they noticed, which is often the more useful question in clinical and safety training.
What gaze tracking shows
It shows attention, not just answers. A learner can reach the right option by elimination; gaze data shows whether they actually checked the monitor before escalating, or looked for the hazards before starting work.
How trainers use it
- Replaying an attempt with attention shown as a heatmap
- Checking whether a learner looked at a key cue before acting
- Seeing which hazards a workforce tends to miss, to target the next toolbox talk
- Adding evidence to a debrief alongside the decision record
Treat gaze data with care
Gaze and motion data is more identifying than it looks. Decide how long to keep it in your DPIA rather than later, and if the data will feed published research, treat it as research data from the start, with whatever ethics approval your institution requires.
