Should we deliver through LTI or SCORM?
The decision is about who controls the copy of the content, not about which standard is more modern.
Choose LTI 1.3 when
The scenario will be updated during the year, you want grades in the gradebook automatically, and the VLE is one you control.
- Deep Linking lets the tutor pick the specific scenario when adding the activity
- Assignment and Grade Services writes the score back to the gradebook
- Names and Role Provisioning passes the roster, so per-learner reporting lines up
Choose SCORM when
The content has to be handed to a partner, uploaded to someone else's platform, or archived as evidence. Node XR exports SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5.
A practical warning
Do not bundle 360 media inside a SCORM zip. Keep media on a CDN and reference it, then check CORS and certificates, because mixed content is the usual cause of a scenario that plays everywhere except inside the VLE.
