Glossary Analytics & assessment

Learning analytics

Learning analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data about learners and their contexts, in order to understand and improve learning.

That definition comes from the learning analytics research community, and in UK education Jisc has published a code of practice on using such data responsibly. Typical sources are activity logs and assessment results, plus decisions, timings and attention in immersive training.

The aim is action, such as spotting who needs support, rather than reporting for its own sake. In Node XR, individual attempts roll up into cohort views, so a trainer can see where a whole group struggled.
