Information governance
Also known as ig · information governance review
The framework of policies, roles and controls an organisation uses to handle information lawfully, securely and appropriately, especially personal and confidential data.
Information governance, usually shortened to IG, brings together data protection, confidentiality, information security, records management and data quality. In the NHS, IG teams review new digital tools, checking things like the DSPT, DPIA, contracts and hosting before approval.
For immersive training, IG approval often sets the launch date more than the clinical case does, so involving the IG lead early saves weeks. Node XR holds Cyber Essentials Plus and supplies a DPIA pack for information governance review.
