OpenID Connect
Also known as oidc · openid
OpenID Connect (OIDC) is an identity layer built on OAuth 2.0 that lets an application verify who a user is through a trusted identity provider.
Finalised by the OpenID Foundation in 2014, OIDC returns a signed ID token, a JSON Web Token describing the signed-in user. It uses JSON and standard web redirects rather than SAML's XML, which suits modern web and mobile apps, and it also underpins LTI 1.3 launches.
Node XR supports OIDC alongside SAML 2.0, including for identity providers such as Microsoft Entra ID, with full OIDC integration included from the Enterprise / Institution plan.
