Summative assessment

Also known as assessment of learning · end-of-course assessment

Summative assessment is assessment at the end of a unit, course or programme that judges what a learner has achieved against a set standard.

Often called assessment of learning, it produces a mark, grade or pass or fail decision that counts towards a qualification, sign-off or licence to practise. Because the stakes are higher, it needs clear criteria, consistent marking and evidence that can be moderated or audited.

A scenario used summatively must assess the competence it claims to. Node XR auto-marks attempts against weighted competency thresholds you define, with session replay available as evidence.
