Can I use 3D models and Gaussian splats?
3D models and Gaussian splats sit alongside 360° photos and video in the same editor, and a scene can be built from either.
Which formats are supported?
3D models in glTF or GLB format, and Gaussian splats in .splat format. You upload them like any other media, and Node XR handles projection and playback.
What is a Gaussian splat for?
A splat is a photorealistic 3D scene reconstructed from many photographs. Unlike a 360° photo, which is viewed from one fixed point, a splat lets the learner move around the captured space.
How are 3D models used?
As a scene, as content attached to a hotspot, or at full size in AR. Medtech teams, for example, show an existing 3D instrument model at full scale in a customer's own workspace, with current videos and PDFs attached as hotspots. The immersive wall editor accepts 3D models and Gaussian splats too.
