Can simulated scenarios count toward NMC practice hours?
The platform is an implementation detail. The NMC's definition is about how the learning is designed, and the approved education institution makes the call.
How many hours can be simulated?
Up to 600 of the 2,300 practice learning hours in pre-registration nursing programmes. The NMC calls this simulated practice learning and defines it as an educational method using a variety of modalities, with the opportunity for repetition, feedback, evaluation and reflection.
What makes a scenario count?
Its design, not the device it runs on. A scenario counts when it reflects practice with people, is designed against programme learning outcomes, and has an appropriately prepared practice supervisor involved.
Who decides?
The approved education institution decides, not any vendor, so for an NHS trust this is a conversation with its university partner. Node XR records each choice a student makes at each branch point, with time and score, which supports the evidence a programme team needs, but it does not approve hours.
