Kiosk mode
Also known as single-app mode · lockdown mode · locked-down mode
A device setting that locks a headset, tablet or screen to a single app or experience and hides system menus from users.
Kiosk mode is usually set through device management software or the device's own settings. When the device starts or a session ends, it returns to the chosen experience rather than a home screen, and users cannot browse, change settings or install anything.
It is standard for event stands, reception totems and shared training headsets, where devices are handed to many people with little supervision. It keeps sessions consistent and cuts the time staff spend rescuing devices from the wrong menu.
