Awarding body

Also known as awarding organisation · awarding bodies · exam board

An organisation that develops, delivers and awards qualifications, recognised and regulated by Ofqual in England, Qualifications Wales in Wales or CCEA Regulation in Northern Ireland.

Vocational examples include City & Guilds, Pearson, NCFE and VTCT. Awarding bodies approve centres such as colleges and training providers, set assessment requirements and use external quality assurance to check that centres assess to the required standard.

Training evidence helps most when it maps to what the qualification requires. Node XR scenarios and their assessment can be built to map to the standards an awarding body asks for, so captured evidence supports the qualification rather than just engagement.
