LSIF (Local Skills Improvement Fund)
Also known as local skills improvement fund
A Department for Education fund in England that helps groups of further education providers respond to the priorities in their area's Local Skills Improvement Plan.
Local Skills Improvement Plans are led by employer representative bodies, often chambers of commerce, and set out the skills local employers need. The fund supports providers to act on them together, with capital funding for equipment and facilities and revenue funding for activities such as curriculum development.
Funding rounds, amounts and eligibility have changed over time, so providers should check current Department for Education guidance rather than relying on earlier rounds.
