LTI 1.3
Also known as lti advantage · lti 1.3 advantage
LTI 1.3 is the version of the 1EdTech (formerly IMS Global) Learning Tools Interoperability standard built on OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, for launching external tools from an LMS.
It replaced the OAuth 1.0a message signing of LTI 1.1 with signed JSON Web Tokens, and passes user, role and course context at launch. With the LTI Advantage services (Deep Linking, Assignment and Grade Services, and Names and Role Provisioning Services), a tool can be placed in a course, return grades and read the class list.
For learners it means one click from the course page, with no separate login. Node XR lists launch from any LTI-compliant LMS, with roster sync supported.
